Amanda and Matt’s wedding at the House of Seven Gables in Salem, MA was an absolute blast! You could see how in love they were and how excited they were to finally get married. They originally had to postpone their wedding due to COVID, but I was fortunately able to capture their intimate elopement at the same venue. Exactly one year later, we were back to celebrate their marriage with their family and friends.
When I asked Amanda why she chose this venue and the nautical theme she said, “I just love New England summers and wanted it to feel like a fun outdoor cookout with friends and family like a love letter to New England.” So that is exactly what they did!
The House of Seven Gables Wedding
The House of Seven Gables is a museum that sits right alongside Salem Harbor. The historic home is best known today as the setting of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1851 novel. Not only is the home pristine but the grounds and gardens are absolutely beautiful.
Amanda started the day getting ready inside the home with her closest family and friends. I always love photographing these candid moments, but I especially loved the character and charm of being inside the home. Once everyone was ready they had their ceremony on the edge of the water overlooking the harbor. Matt has two boys, and it was important to include them throughout the day, especially in the ceremony as they became a new blended family.
Tented Reception for Salem, MA Wedding
After the ceremony, we took portraits throughout the beautiful gardens. Amanda and Matt were then introduced into the reception and headed right into their first dance. The photo of them on the dance floor is one of my all-time favorites! The moment was so genuine, it felt like they were the only two in the room. Amanda’s smile was infectious throughout the entire reception and everyone was just so excited to celebrate their love story.
We snuck out of their reception to capture some sunset photos of just the two of them. The sky was pink and blue and had the fluffiest clouds! It was so pretty and made for some of my favorite images of the day! People lined up along Salem’s streets waiting for the fireworks that night. Amanda and Matt were greeted with lots of smiles and congratulations as we got some shots of them in front of iconic Salem doors. We ended the night enjoying the fireworks right on the edge of the harbor.
Amanda and Matt, it was an honor and an absolute pleasure to photograph your amazing wedding day! Leave some love for A+M in the comments. Until next time..
