A late summer Southwick’s Zoo wedding.
I’ve been so excited to share Cassandra and Vincent’s Southwick Zoo Wedding! First of all, I did not know that Southwick’s hosted weddings- how cool is that? I hadn’t been there since I was a kid, and it has certainly changed a lot!
Every year on Cassandra and Vincent’s anniversary, they try and visit a zoo as part of their celebration… so of course Southwick’s was a natural choice for their wedding!
Deer Forest Ceremony
Their loving ceremony was held in the deer forest- with deer milling about! For their formal portraits we hung around in the deer forest, then just the two of them, myself, and zoo staff ventured about the grounds to get some photographs with the animals as best we could- because after all, they are wild animals! They had their reception up in the pavilion, which has an ostrich milling about right outside. Finally, we took a ride on the Skyfari and enjoyed a nice peaceful ride around the zoo- and of course I snapped some photos of them along the way!

Cassandra + Vincent- thank you so much for having me photograph your amazing wedding day! I had such a wonderful time running around Southwick’s zoo with the two of you on your wedding day, it really reminded me what a cool job being a photographer is- and I can honestly say that hearing the lion wake up with a thunderous ROAR while I waited for your ceremony to begin was the first time I ever experienced that particular sound.
